Some Interior highways are snowy and slushy this morning.<\/p>\n
It’s snowing on Highway 1 <\/strong>between Spences Bridge and Jackass Mountain, and the road has compact snow and slippery sections, according to DriveB.C.<\/a> Highway 5 <\/strong>is slushy with slippery sections from Great Bear Snowshed to the Coquihalla Summit; Highway 3 <\/strong>has slushy sections from Hedley to Keremeos; Highway 3A<\/strong> has slushy sections from Keremeos to Kaleden; it’s snowing on Highway 8<\/strong> from Spences Bridge to Merritt where there is compact snow on the roads; Highway 97B<\/strong> has compact snow from the start of the Highway to Salmon Arm; Highway 97 <\/strong>has slippery sections from Okanagan Falls to Summerland; and Highway 97C<\/strong> has slippery sections between West Kelowna and Merritt.<\/p>\n Charles Andrews drove from Armstrong to Sicamous via Highway 97A<\/strong> this morning, as he does five days a week. He reports the road was bare and dry throughout.<\/p>\n “It is kind of boring, I know, but many like boring,” said Andrews.<\/p>\n Looking at weather, Kamloops<\/a>, Vernon<\/a> and Kelowna<\/a> are in for a high of 0 and low of -2 Celsius with a low chance of flurries. In Penticton<\/a>, where the temperature is currently at its low of 1 C, and will reach a high of 5 C around 5 p.m., flurries are expected to continue until 10 a.m.<\/p>\n At the ski hills, Big White Mountain Resort<\/a> is reporting 27 centimetres over the past week and an alpine snow base of 139 cm. There has been 16 cm at Sun Peaks Ski Resort<\/a> over the past week where there is an alpine base of 129 cm; the ’s last significant snowfall at SilverStar Mountain Resort<\/a>, where the alpine snow base is 249 cm, was 5 cm on Dec. 28; and Apex Mountain Resort<\/a> is reporting 2 cm of new snow, 7 cm over the past week, and an alpine snow base of 158 cm.<\/p>\n To contact a reporter for this story, email Dan Walton<\/a> or call 250-488-3065 or email the editor<\/a>.
