A Logan Lake resident watched as a man got out of his pickup truck at a local grocery store yesterday afternoon and stumbled into a pole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The witness said the driver appeared to be unsteady on his feet as he got out of his truck at around 2 p.m., May 28, behind the grocery store on Opal Drive, according to an RCMP media release. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The same man, who smelled of alcohol, was later seen at a nearby bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The witness called 911 and officers found the man and his pickup, which both matched the description provided by the resident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe quick thinking and detailed observations from a member of the public were instrumental in allowing officers to intervene before someone was seriously hurt,\u201d Logan Lake RCMP detachment commander Cpl. Chris Odgaard said in an RCMP media release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The driver failed a roadside test. He got a 90-day driving prohibition and his truck was loaded onto a tow truck flatbed to be impounded for 30 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is a strong example of how the public and police working together can improve safety in our community,\u201d Cpl Odgaard said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
