A man pleaded guilty in Kamloops court after a drunk driving collision put multiple people in the hospital five years ago.<\/p>\n
Jason Wesley Hurl, born in 1974, avoided a trial that was scheduled to last more than a week by pleading guilty today, April 17. He was facing six charges but pleaded guilty to two of them.<\/p>\n
In February 2019 he was driving on Westsyde Road in the city and was involved in a crash in which three people were taken to hospital<\/a>.<\/p>\n At the time, police said a Toyota Corolla cross the centre line and struck a Hyundai Elantra. Two people in the Elantra were critically injured.<\/p>\n The Toyota was seen driving erratically before the crashed, and police said they believed the driver was drunk.<\/p>\n The extent of his injuries or the other two people were not detailed in court, nor were the circumstances.<\/p>\n Hurl will appear in court again in June when lawyers will propose a sentence for two counts for impaired driving causing bodily harm.<\/p>\n To contact a reporter for this story, email Levi Landry<\/a> or call 250-819-3723 or email the editor<\/a>.
