Five impaired drivers were removed from the streets by the Lake Country RCMP in 24 hours.<\/p>\n
From 11 p.m., March 31, 11 p.m., April 1, Lake Country RCMP officers conducted sobriety check stops and patrolled the streets resulting in five impaired drivers being removed from the roads, according to a news release.<\/p>\n
A check stop on Glenmore Road checked approximately 60 drivers of which three were impaired. Of the three, two received a three-day driving prohibition and their vehicles were impounded for the same amount of time. The third driver received a 90-day driving prohibition and a mandatory 30-day impound.<\/p>\n
Patrol officers located an additional two impaired drivers. One was also issued a 90-day driving prohibition and the other, a three-day driving prohibition.<\/p>\n
"Lake Country RCMP officers have been exceptionally active at targeting impaired drivers in the community. In the last year, more than 80 drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol were removed from our roads as officers continue to keep our roads and community safe. I could not be more proud of the work done by our officers," Cpl. Birtwistle, Watch Commander of the Lake Country RCMP, said in the release.<\/p>\n
