FREDERICTON \u2014 Mounties in southeastern New Brunswick say three teens were charged after a vehicle was stolen and several crimes were allegedly committed.<\/p>\n
RCMP say they received multiple reports Sunday of “car surfing” on a main arterial road in Moncton.<\/p>\n
A social media video appears to show a boy sitting on the roof of a moving car on Vaughan Harvey Boulevard.<\/p>\n
Police say they received reports involving the vehicle in the video as well as the youth suspects, and that the car was reported stolen.<\/p>\n
Police say a 16-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were arrested.<\/p>\n
Police believe the three youth are also suspected of break-ins and thefts from businesses and residences.<\/p>\n
Pamela Fuselli, CEO of injury prevention charity Parachute, says car surfing doesn’t happen too often but she hopes this doesn’t lead to copycats in search of online fame.<\/p>\n
“I am hoping that this is not a resurgence or a challenge that is going to be taken up through social media because it so dangerous,” Fuselli said in an interview.<\/p>\n
“We don’t see them very often, but when we do see them, they can be very very dangerous and fatal in some cases.”<\/p>\n
