Okanagan-Similkameen regional district politicians got a chance to have a look inside the new, state-of-the-art fruit packing facility in Oliver recently and shared some of the photos.<\/p>\n

The board of directors took a tour of the new and improved BC Tree Fruits<\/a> facility in Oliver on Friday, Feb. 23, according to a regional district media release.<\/p>\n

The facility packs and sells all kinds of tree fruit like apples, cherries, peaches, nectarines, prunes, plums and apricots.<\/p>\n

“I was very impressed with the tour of the renewed BC Tree Fruits complex in Oliver,” Electoral Area “C” director Rick Knodel said in the release.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

“The attention to detail and gentleness in handling fruit products was astounding. This ultra-modern facility will be instrumental in rejuvenating the tree fruits industry in the Okanagan and putting our fruit products back on the stage of the world markets.”<\/p>\n

BC Tree Fruits is a cooperative that packs and sells fruit from 310 farms throughout the region. BC Tree fruits has been around since 1936 and is owned by fruit growers between Creston to the Similkameen area and from Osoyoos to Vernon.<\/p>\n

“It’s great to see a local company in an industry that is a cornerstone of our local economy, retooling with cutting-edge technology,” Electoral Area “D” director Matt Taylor said in the release.<\/p>\n

“These changes will help ensure BC Tree Fruits is cost-competitive for years to come.”<\/p>\n

The cooperative helps growers with their businesses by providing assistance for sales, marketing, accounting, shipping and regulation compliance.<\/p>\n
