People who enjoy an alcoholic beverage at three of Summerland’s popular beaches can do so without breaking the law, but only for the next 12 weeks.<\/p>\n
The District accepted a proposal from the Chamber of Summerland and Bottleneck Drive Association to permit alcohol consumption at Rotary Beach, Peach Orchard Park and Powell Beach as part of a 12-week pilot project.<\/p>\n
Today, June 1, is the first day the public can enjoy the privilege, but only between noon and 9 p.m.<\/p>\n
“This initiative aims to enhance the overall beach experience for residents and visitors, promote local businesses, and showcase the diverse range of locally-produced food and beverages available in the Summerland area,” according to a media release from the Chamber and Bottleneck.<\/p>\n
