KELOWNA – Craft beer, Okanagan views, a patio, pool table, foosball and a full menu.<\/p>\n

There’s a new bar open on Academy Hill, less than a 10-minute walk from UBCO and students are loving it.<\/p>\n

The Kelowna Brewing Company opened June 28 and already, they have 23 beers on tap, BC Tree Fruits cider and four more beers brewing, which will be ready in time for fall.<\/p>\n

KBC’s collection includes a lot of local representation, with breweries such as OK Springs from Vernon, Cannery and Bad Tattoo from Penticton, Red Truck from West Kelowna, Boundary Brewery and Parallel 49 from Kelowna. Their menu also features a decent selection of cocktails and local wine.<\/p>\n

The decor at KBC is a blend of eclectic and rustic, with bar seating, armchairs, hightop tables and communal tables.<\/p>\n

The general aesthetic is a balanced combination of industrial warehouse and grandma's thrift-shop finds.<\/p>\n

One of the best features of KBC is the full wall of windows facing East showing the amazing Kelowna view that Academy Hill is known for. Floor to ceiling sliding glass doors lift from the bottom and open up the entire south wall to the patio.<\/p>\n

KBC’s menu is as diversified as its decor. They have some particularly unique dishes, such as their maple-fried Brussel sprouts or garlic mushroom avocado toast.<\/p>\n

Their main menu has everything from chicken enchiladas to cauliflower steak, to macaroni and cheese to Nasi Goring, an Indonesian fried rice dish with pickled vegetables, meat and fried egg.<\/p>\n
