Do take time and do that and shop local markets, whenever possible.<br \/> This is a favorite cherry recipe passed down from the many tree fruit farmers in my family. After your initial pig out on fresh cherries, try this delightful dessert.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- start image2 --><\/p>\n<figure data-type=\"media\" data-slug=\"MediaItemID84542-1182.jpg\" data-filename=\"MediaItemID84542-1182.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inwine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/MediaItemID84542-1182.jpg\" alt=\"|\" title=\"|\"><figcaption>This yummy recipe comes from my family recipe box. | Photographer: Jennifer Schell<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><!-- end image2 --><\/p>\n<p> Fresh Cherry Slice<\/p>\n<p> &frac12; cup cold butter, cut into cubes<br \/> 1 cup flour<br \/> 2 Tbsp icing sugar<\/p>\n<p> Filling:<br \/> 2 eggs<\/p>\n<p> &frac12; tsp vanilla<\/p>\n<p> &frac14; tsp salt<br \/> 1 cup brown sugar<br \/> 1\/3 cup flour<br \/> 1\/2 tsp baking powder<br \/> 1 &frac12; cups fresh local cherries, pitted and quartered<br \/> 1 cup local walnuts, chopped<\/p>\n<p> Heat oven to 350 degrees.<\/p>\n<p> Make crust:<br \/> In a bowl mix flour mixed with icing sugar and then cut in cold butter.&nbsp; Press into 9&#215;9 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Set aside.<\/p>\n<p> Make filling:<br \/> In a large bowl combine eggs, vanilla, salt brown sugar, flour and baking powder. Stir in cherries and walnuts.<br \/> Spread mixture atop crust and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.<\/p>\n<p> Cool and slice.
