Elderly man crashes pickup repeatedly in Lumby

LUMBY – An 83-year-old man lost control of his pickup at the traffic light in Lumby last week.

RCMP say the man hit a power pole and a flat deck truck, and the concrete retaining wall in front of the Super A Foods parking lot.

A witness told police the man then tried to back up onto the street where a passerby managed to get the pickup turned off and the key out of the ignition.

Police say the man wasn’t seriously hurt and have ruled out drugs or alcohol as a factor in the series of crashes.

No charges have been laid, although police say the incident is still under investigation.
