Maryland police officer’s son found shot to death

LA PLATA, Md. – The son of a Maryland police officer was found shot to death in the driveway of a home, authorities said Wednesday.

Diane Richardson, a spokeswoman for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, said Bradley Alan Brown, 17, was shot at approximately 7 p.m. in the Bryans Road area of the county, news sources reported. Emergency personnel pronounced Brown dead at the scene.

Brown was the son of a Prince George’s County officer, a spokeswoman for the Washington, D.C., area-department confirmed. The officer’s name wasn’t released.

WTOP-FM reported that a spokeswoman for Charles County Public Schools identified Brown in an email on Wednesday, saying he was enrolled in a criminal justice program and ran cross country for four years.

Richardson said the investigation into Brown’s shooting death has shown no evidence has indicated his death was related to his father’s work in law enforcement. Investigators don’t believe the shooting was a random act, but they haven’t located a suspect or determined a motive.
