RICHMOND HILL, Ont. – DesRosiers Automotive Consultants says new light vehicle sales continue to defy expectations this year as February saw record sales for the month.
The consulting firm says, combined with a record result in January, sales in the first two months 2018 were up 3.8 per cent compared with the same period in 2017.
February sales on their own climbed two per cent with a total of 125,530 vehicles sold, up from the previous record of 123,033 in the same month last year.
The overall increase came as the split between passenger cars and light trucks continued to grow.
Car sales dropped six per cent compared with a year ago, while light truck sales rose 5.6 per cent compared with February 2017.
FCA remained the volume leader for February with 18,831 vehicles sold with Ford 330 behind.
