Parade will close Highway 97 on Sunday

FALKLAND – The Falkland Stampede will take place this May long weekend and as always the annual event will also include a parade that will shut down the highway for part of Sunday afternoon.

RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk reminds drivers to avoid the stretch of Highway 97 through Falkland on Sunday, May 17. The parade will shut down the highway from 1 to 2 p.m. and could result in traffic congestion. He suggests drivers use an alternate route through Salmon Arm instead.

Molendyk notes there will be increased enforcement on area highways over the weekend. Friday will also be the Provincial High Risk Driving Blitz while Saturday is one of four RCMP National Impaired Driving Enforcement days.
