Authorities: 43 gang members charged in 2 different busts

NEW YORK – Prosecutors in New York City say 43 gang members have been charged in two separate takedowns.

Brooklyn’s district attorney said Wednesday that 25 gang members have been charged in a 67-count indictment with murder and other charges in connection with eight shootings. Ken Thompson says six people were injured and a 19-year-old was killed.

His counterpart in Queens says 18 members of another street crew have been charged in a 90-count indictment with conspiring to shoot rival gang members.

Richard Brown says members of Pop On Site, also known as Fully Loaded Outta Control Crips, shot and wounded eight people between 2014 and 2015.

Thompson says the Brooklyn gang operated in the borough’s Crown Heights neighbourhood.

Brown says the Queens gang was based in the borough’s Far Rockaway section.
