Man charged with assault in alleged attempted abduction of teenage girl

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – Police in Abbotsford, B.C., say a 24-year-old man arrested in connection with an alleged abduction attempt has been charged with assault.

Dwight Love-Paulson in accused in the incident that occurred at around 5 p.m. on Saturday.

A 16-year-old girl reported a man in a van drove past her several times as she waited for a bus.

Police say the suspect parked and offered her liquor and a ride to work before allegedly grabbing her arm and trying to pull her into the van.

The man fled when a passerby intervened, and police are still appealing for that Good Samaritan to come forward and describe what happened.

Const. Ian MacDonald has said the teen was not physically hurt but she and her family remain very upset about the incident.
