ANTIOCH, Calif. – The Latest on three people who died and five who were sickened after eating church-organized Thanksgiving dinner at an American Legion Hall (all times local):

Health officials say they are trying to determine if three people who died and five who were sickened after eating Thanksgiving dinner at a church event got sick there or at the assisted living facility where they all lived.

Dr. Louise McNitt, of the Contra Costa County Health Department, said Monday there is no risk to the general public.

It’s unclear exactly what caused the illness. Health officials are awaiting test results and interviewing those who are recovering.

McNitt says 835 people were fed at the Thanksgiving dinner held at the American Legion Hall in Antioch and that no other reports of illness related to the dinner have been received.

The event was organized by the Golden Hills Community Church in nearby Brentwood. A call to the church was not immediately returned.

Health officials say three people died and at least five more were sickened after eating Thanksgiving dinner at an event organized by a church in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch said Monday it received eight patients with probably food borne symptoms between Friday and Saturday. It says three of the patients died, four patients were treated and released and one remains hospitalized.

San Francisco television station KTVU reports (http://bit.ly/2gzZmd2) Golden Hills Community Church confirmed it hosted the dinner at the American Legion Hall in Antioch on Thanksgiving. A call to the church was not immediately returned.

The Contra Costa Public Health Department is investigating and says there is no current risk to the general public.
