The Latest: Missing teen’s hiking boot found in Grand Teton

MOOSE, Wyo. – The Latest on the search for an Ohio teen who went missing in Grand Teton National Park (all times local):

8:30 p.m.

Searchers have found a hiking boot that belongs to an Ohio girl who went missing in Grand Teton National Park.

Park officials say 16-year-old Fauna Jackson’s boot was found Friday, but they do not believe the girl was wearing it when she disappeared Thursday morning. More than 115 people looked for the teen Friday, and Saturday’s search will include ATV patrols and help from the Wyoming Civil Air Patrol.

Jackson, from Cincinnati, is part of a youth volunteer conservation corps called Groundwork USA. She was in Grand Teton this week helping to reroute a trail in the Triangle X Ranch area.

Co-workers say she took a break while working on the trail and hasn’t been seen since.

A search for a 16-year-old Ohio girl has entered a second day in Grand Teton National Park.

Fauna Jackson is part of a youth conservation group called Groundwork USA. She’s been missing since she took a break from working on a trail in the park Thursday morning.

Searchers are using dogs and helicopters to look for her in the area of the Triangle X Ranch in Jackson Hole.

Robin Corathers with Groundwork Cincinnati said Friday the group is very concerned about Jackson. The teen took part in an eight-week youth employment program with the organization this summer.

She was one of three Cincinnati youths chosen to participate in a nine-day program in Grand Teton involving other youth from around the country.

Additional searchers were set to arrive Friday.
