ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – Police say a 19-year-old man is in custody and faces charges after a violent attack on an 85-year-old man in Abbotsford, B.C.
A police statement says officers were called Sunday to a report of a young man seen hitting and robbing an elderly male.
Bystanders saw the attack and followed the suspect who ran into traffic and was hit by a passing vehicle, but he was still able to escape.
Officers later found the man hiding in some bushes in a nearby ravine.
Police say the victim sustained serious injuries, including broken teeth and lacerations to his face.
Brandon Janveaux is accused of assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
