Honorary Trump sign vanishes from Chicago street

CHICAGO – Someone has taken down one of Donald Trump’s honorary street signs in Chicago.

One of three signs marking part of Wabash Avenue near the Trump International Hotel & Tower as Trump Plaza has gone missing. The disappearance comes a week after a group of city lawmakers called for the sign honouring the GOP presidential nominee to be removed. The group had the support of Democratic Mayor Rahm Emmanuel.

Chicago Department of Transportation spokesman Michael Claffey says the city doesn’t know who took the sign. He says Chicago doesn’t “condone the theft of city signs, even if the subject of the honorary sign is not honourable.”

The signs were installed in 2006.
