BENSON, Minn. – A sheriff says eight people have been injured in a crash involving a school van and a semitrailer in western Minnesota.
Swift County Sheriff John Holtz says seven schoolchildren have been injured along with the woman who was driving the van they were in. He says all eight have been taken to hospitals but details about their injuries are not clear.
He says the children are ages 8 to 16.
Holtz says the man driving the semitrailer was evaluated at the scene and released.
The crash occurred Monday afternoon about 10 miles west of Benson, Minnesota. The sheriff’s office says the children were in a Hancock Public School transport van.
KSTP-TV reported that Hancock Superintendent Loren Hacker says school officials are working with authorities to make sure the needs of the students and their families are addressed.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
