Iran TV: Thunderstorms, flash floods kill 4 in northern Iran

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran’s state TV is reporting that thunderstorms and flash floods have killed four people in the country’s north.

The report by the TV’s website, iribnews.ir, says that a family of three — the mother, father and their child — drowned in a flash flood near a river bank in northern Golestan province on Friday. Also, a thunderbolt killed a 70- year-old woman while she was working in a village. Roads were blocked in some Golestan areas.

Separately, the official IRNA news agency reported that the storm, with winds of about 130 kilometres (80 miles) per hour, cut power lines and damaged more than 900 roofs on houses in the city of Amol in northern Mazandaran province.

IRNA says the flooding also damaged 15 parked cars in Amol.
