Marshall Finnie opened the scoring at 12:45 of the first, giving the last-place Oil Kings (10-54-4-0) a 1-0 lead. Sean Tschigerl of the Hitmen scored an unassisted short-handed goal at 9:11 of the second to tie the game 1-1.
The Hitmen (31-29-5-3) outshot the visitors 33-24, but trailed 1-0 after the first. The teams were tied 1-1 heading into the third.
Hitmen netminder Ethan Buenaventura stopped 22 shots.
