WWII aircraft to fly over Ohio museum’s D-Day ceremony

DAYTON, Ohio – Two vintage C-47 aircraft will fly over a wreath-laying ceremony as part of a D-Day 75th anniversary commemoration Thursday in Ohio at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

It says one of the planes successfully dropped 18 paratroopers during the invasion that led to the liberation of France and the end of the Nazi regime. The other transported cargo and paratroopers.

The museum will display World War II-era military vehicles and show D-Day movies.

Visitors can access tablets utilizing a French-developed technology called HistoPads. Users can contrast current views of historic sites with detailed re-creations of them, enhanced in this case with video footage, photos, maps and animation.

President Donald Trump plans to participate in memorial events in France .
