Solar Road stabbing victim identified, murder charges laid

WEST KELOWNA – The man who died after being stabbed in the chest during a fight in West Kelowna April 29 has been identified and charges against the suspect upgraded to second-degree murder.

Jose Amestica, 50, will appear in court June 2. He was originally charged with aggravated assault until the victim, Kevin McNally, 44, died in hospital May 2.

Police say the two men knew each other.

RCMP are urging anyone who may have witnessed the fight between the two men to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
