Kornheiser leaving DC radio station, plans to do podcast
ROCKVILLE, Md. – Tony Kornheiser is leaving the Washington-area radio station he has been with for 24 years.
Sports talk station ESPN 980 announced that Kornheiser’s final show will later this month. The ESPN personality who co-stars with Michael Wilbon on “Pardon the Interruption” said he will be launching a podcast in September.
Kornheiser was part of WTEM’s original lineup in 1992 when he was a columnist for The Washington Post.
Terry Bateman, chairman of Red Zebra Broadcasting, which belongs to Redskins owner Dan Snyder, called Kornheiser “a pillar in the Washington, D.C. sports community.”
The station said it will announce a new midday host in the near future.
