Police say death of man pulled from water in Bella Bella appears suspicious

BELLA BELLA, B.C. – RCMP say a man who died after being pulled from the water near a dock in Bella Bella, B.C., may have been involved in an altercation.

Cpl. Dave Tyreman says police were called about a man in distress in the water at around noon on Saturday.

He says the man was rescued by community members before police arrived and started CPR.

Tyreman says the victim was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Mounties are treating the case as a suspicious death and are investigating the possibility the victim was involved in an altercation before police received the original call.
