LONDON – A major bridge connecting England and Wales has been briefly shut because of an unauthorized drone flight from one of its towers.
Police said a man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance.
Traffic in both directions on the Severn Bridge was shut down Monday while police dealt with the incident.
Police say the suspect “appeared to have climbed one of the towers and was flying a drone off it.” He came down voluntarily and was arrested.
The drone incident follows chaos at London’s Gatwick Airport, which was forced to shut down days before Christmas after drones were spotted near the runway.
No one has been charged in the Gatwick incident, which closed the busy airport for parts of three days.
