12 dead in passenger van crash near Mexico City
MEXICO CITY – Twelve people were killed after a passenger van crashed on the outskirts of Mexico City.
Police in Mexico State said the accident occurred early Friday as the van carried passengers toward the capital.
Photos posted on social media showed the front of the vehicle completely crushed after it apparently slammed into a heavy truck.
The accident caused miles-long backups on the already traffic-choked highway into Mexico City.
