PENTICTON – A Summerland man is homeless following a fire in the community yesterday, June 1.
Summerland Fire Department Chief Glenn Noble said the fire department was called to the Summerland Beach RV Park at 11:30 p.m. Monday for a structure fire.
Firefighters arrived to find a large fifth-wheel trailer in the park ablaze. Noble said firefighters had the fire knocked down before midnight, but left a crew at the scene overnight to mop up and ensure the fire was out.
“The official cause is undetermined,” he said, noting B.C. safety authorities including electric and gas personnel investigated the blaze.
Noble said in addition to the fifth wheel being destroyed, there was also collateral damage to three nearby units including one with significant damage to the exterior, and minor damage to the others.
One resident was displaced as a result of the fire. No injuries were reported.
