Morocco arrests suspect linked to extremist group in Libya

RABAT, Morocco – Morocco’s Interior Ministry says a person suspected of ties with an extremist group active in Libya has been arrested.

The ministry statement says the unidentified suspect, who was arrested on Thursday at the Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca after arriving from Libya via Tunisia, had been wanted by authorities since the beginning of the year after he left the country.

The ministry did not say whether he was connected in any way with another suspect arrested earlier this week for ties with the Islamic State group in Libya after illegally entering Moroccan territory through Algeria.
