BOZEMAN, Mont. – A sustainability organization has created a guide that aims to help Montana farmers and ranchers earn additional revenue through tourism.
The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports the Alternative Energy Resources Organization, or AERO, earlier this week released the guide that outlines agritourism — business opportunities that link visitors with agricultural production.
The guide lists some of the agritourism operations that are already occurring, like a farm-to-table dinner at a ranch in Emigrant and a farm bicycle tour in western Montana.
Organization program manager Kaleena Miller says this type of tourism can be diverse and presents people with a creative opportunity. Miller says the main goal is to support producers, but it’s also “mutually beneficial in terms of the diversification of their markets, contributing to the local economy and consumer education.”
