Skaha Lake waterfront plans on display

PENTICTON – Penticton citizens interested in a revitalized Skaha lakefront will have an opportunity to provide input and hear more about a major revitalization project proposed for the Skaha Marina area in the coming days.

The proposal put forward by Trio Marine Group would see an expanded 100-slip marina featuring day and seasonal rentals as well as recreational craft such as personal watercraft, kayaks and paddle boards.

An expanded restaurant and 110,000-square-foot waterpark are also proposed for the lake frontage surrounding Skaha Marina. The phased proposal would see most of the improvements completed by 2017.

Trio Marine Group has scheduled a number of information sessions throughout June, including the following dates and locations:
– June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Saturday Markets in downtown Penticton.
– June 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Skaha Lake Marina and beach area.

Several meetings will also take place with stakeholders such as the Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Penticton, Penticton Rotary Club, the Dragon Boat Club and city committees. A meeting on June 29 will be held for public input on the proposals, though the location still to be determined.

  1. keep it off our beaches and out of our parks if trio marine wants to run a marina then do it don’t spoil the free public beach and beautiful park for an unsightlyprivate development so that a few people can make money. Leave Skaha waterfront alone, it is precious just the way it is.

  2. keep it off our beaches and out of our parks.

  3. This is what we need :) Been waiting for such a long time for the Water Slides to be replaced after they were torn down soooo long ago. Please Penticton!

  4. That does not look at all like a waterpark I had imagined! Hope it gets better, and would be nice if it used lake water with no chemicals, though I doubt that would ever fly. Just keep the chems outta the lake please!

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
