Teenage stars Alphonso Davies and Jordyn Huitema have already made their soccer mark for Canada.
Now it seems they are making news off the pitch.
Social media postings by the 18-year-old Davies and 17-year-old Huitema show them arm-in-arm — complete with rose emoji — and also in costume for Halloween with Huitema dressed like a member of the “Orange is the New Black” cast.
“Happiest of birthdays to my partner in crime,” wrote Huitema, adding key and heart emojis.
Davies turned 18 on Nov. 2.
Both have been playing in Vancouver — Davies with the Vancouver Whitecaps and Huitema with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite REX team — although Davies has since moved to Germany’s Bayern Munich.
Asked if they are an item, Huitema paused Friday before replying “We’re close.”
“That’s about all I can give,” she added.
Huitema, a native of Chilliwack, B.C., is currently in Uruguay where she is captaining Canada at the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Huitema has six goals in 15 appearances with the senior women’s side. Davies has three goals in nine starts for the Canadian men’s team.
