PENTICTON – Nearly $7 million in salaries and expenses was paid to regional district staff in 2014, with the top-19 wage-earners accounting for more than $1.6 million of that.
Last year’s salary figures for staffers making $75,000 or more and elected representatives stipends were released by the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen in an annual Statement of Financial Information document this week.
Three staffers at the regional district earned more than six figures last year, including Chief Administrative Officer Bill Newell, who took home nearly $150,000, recently-retired Public Works Manager Doug French, who pocketed more than $104,000, and Community Services Manager Mark Woods, who also earned more than $104,000.
The highest paid elected rural officials include board chair Mark Pendergraft at $58,900, Naramata Director Karla Kozakevich at about $30,000, and Cawston Director George Bush at $28,000. The top three directors with highest expenses were Pendergraft at about $10,000, Hedley Director Angelique Wood with about $9,800 and Oliver Rural Director Allan Patton at about $9,000.
