Record hot weather on the way for Okanagan
OKANAGAN – It was a hot weekend in the Okanagan and the hot weather is forecast to continue through this week.
Environment Canada recorded temperatures reaching as high as 33.8 Celsius in Penticton on Sunday, a bit shy of the 35 C record set nearly 70 years ago. In Kelowna temperatures climbed to 33 C, the current record for June 7 is 34.5 C, while in Vernon, temperatures hit 32.2 C on Sunday, more than two degrees shy of the 103-year-old record currently in place.
Today, June 8, temperatures are expected to reach 33 C to 35 C throughout the Okanagan, well within striking distance of current record highs. Temperatures are forecast to reach above 30 C through Thursday and then on Friday will drop back down closer to seasonal normals of 23 C.
The week will also bring a lot more sun, and a high UV index, before cloud cover and a 40 per cent chance of showers hit the region on Friday.
According to the weather office, several B.C. communities set new high temperature records on Sunday, including Castlegar, Hope Slide, Nakusp and Pemberton.

A reader board in town was showing 38 C just now! Too hot without the lake being warm enough for swimming!
