Record hot weather on the way for Kamloops
KAMLOOPS – It was a hot weekend in Kamloops and the hot weather is forecast to continue through this week.
Environment Canada recorded temperatures reaching as high as 33.9 Celsius in Kamloops on Sunday, well shy of the 37.8 C record set nearly 70 years ago, but with temperatures expected to reach 35 C in Kamloops today, June 8, we could see a new record set.
Temperatures are also forecast to reach above 30 C through Thursday and then on Friday will drop back down closer to seasonal normal highs of 24 C.
The week will also bring a lot more sun, and a high UV index, before cloud cover and a 40 per cent chance of showers hit the region on Friday.
According to the weather office, several B.C. communities set new high temperature records on Sunday, including Castlegar, Hope Slide, Nakusp and Pemberton.
