Paving project set for Highway 6, Mabel Lake Road
LUMBY – Millions of provincial tax dollars will be spent on paving projects in parts of Lumby this summer.
The province announced today close to 75 kilometres of roadway in the area will get repaved.
Work is to start sometime in June on Highway 6 and Mabel Lake Road with the $8.9 million project expected to wrap up by the end of September.
Drivers are reminded to check Drive B.C. for traffic updates on the road work.
“Highway 6 is an important link between the North Okanagan and the West Kootenay, and Mabel Lake Road is a popular route for recreational cyclists and campers heading to the provincial park at the lake,” Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster said in a media release. “These repaving projects will improve safety and the driving experience on both of these routes.”
The specific areas being repaved include 17 kilometres of Highway 6 between Ricardo Road and Lumby, 26 kilometres of Highway 6 intermittently from the base of Mine Hill to Gibson Road and 32 kilometres of Mabel Lake Road, from the Lumby municipal boundary to the end of the existing pavement.

Great job on repaving. Are there going to be improvements to the highway. I would like to see pull over spots for slow moving vehicles.
