Cpl. Michaud speaks about being shot to support hospital foundation
KAMLOOPS – Cpl. Jean-René Michaud has spoken on camera for the first time since he was shot during a traffic stop in Kamloops back in December.
Michaud was conducting a traffic stop in the Batchelor Heights area on Dec. 3, 2014, when he was shot. He was rushed to hospital and has undergone multiple surgeries since.
The officer is now praising the staff at Royal Inland Hospital for saving his life in his first on-camera appearance since the shooting. The video was released at a fundraiser for the Royal Inland Foundation.
“I was shot several times… one bullet entered my elbow and the other one my torso,” Michaud says in the video. “That night the quick work by the emergency room department and the amazing work by the team of surgeons saved my life.”
Michaud was transferred back to Royal Inland Hospital in February after spending time in a Vancouver hospital because of complications.
Kenneth Michael Knutson has been charged with attempted murder while in the commission of a criminal organization, aggravated assault of a peace officer, possession of a firearm while prohibited and discharging a firearm with intent to wound, maim, disfigure or endanger life.
We wanted our Facebook followers to be the first online viewers to see the new Live Love Give video for the Royal Inland…
