New airline promises cheap flights out of Kelowna

KELOWNA – A new airline from Manitoba is partnering with Kelowna-based Flair Airlines to bring what it calls 'basic air transportation' to the Okanagan.

NewLeaf Travel Company has not released all of its destinations yet, but airline spokesperson Bob Jones confirms they will start service from Kelowna to Hamilton and Winnipeg by the end of the summer.

“NewLeaf Travel Company Inc. is a new, privately-held, Canadian company headquartered in Winnipeg, Man., whose purpose is to provide leisure travellers with an alternative travel experience at a lower cost,” he says. “NewLeaf will offer scheduled, nonstop flights from the company’s bases in Kelowna, Winnipeg and Hamilton to multiple domestic and international destinations. NewLeaf customers save money through low fares that are unbundled and transparent; only paying for what they want and use, with no surprises.”

NewLeaf will partner with Kelowna-based Flair Airlines, which owns and operates five Boeing 737-400s, which will provide the aircraft, maintenance and crews.

Flair Airlines president Jim Rogers says the initial route map will be announced in the near future.
