The Annual Teddy Bear-Mother Goose Picnic at Prince Charles Park

KAMLOOPS – On Thursday, June 18, the ninth annual Teddy Bear-Mother Goose Picnic will take place at Prince Charles Park. This free community event is hosted in partnership by the City of Kamloops, Kamloops Early Language and Literacy Initiative, YMCA-YWCA, TNRD Library, and Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc Social Development Department.

Teddy Bear-Mother Goose Picnic is the wrap up celebration for the Kamloops Early Language & Literacy Initiative and the Parent-Child Mother Goose Program. There will be many interactive activities such as; a teddy bear hospital with Kamloops Princess Parties; Storytime Corner with the TNRD Library; medieval jousting with Project X; Kamloops Art Council’s Rivertown Players; Family Zumba with Fit by Design; crafts; a gardening station; Drummer Dave; gymnastics with River City Gymnastics; learning with the City of Kamloops ECO Smart Team; and fun with the Kamloops Fire and Rescue inflatable Fire Safety House.

The picnic will wrap up with the largest Mother Goose circle in the world, followed by cake.

The Parent-Child Mother Goose Programs introduces adults and children to the pleasure and power of using rhymes, songs, and stories together. Parents gain skills and confidence which can enable them to create positive family patterns during their children’s crucial early years. Children benefit from enjoyable, healthy early experiences with language and communication. There are over 50 Mother Goose Program offered in the Kamloops community from October to June.
