UPDATE: Woman missing near Peachland for more than a week found

UPDATE: 6:44 A.M., JUNE 19, 2015

RCMP say Kara Stoyanowski has been found alive. More details are expected later today.

WEST KELOWNA – Still no sign of a Winnipeg woman missing in the wilderness west of Peachland for almost a week.

RCMP are hoping there is someone who knows something about Kara Stoyanowski, 24, who was last seen walking away from a recreational area south of the Okanagan Connector near Headwaters Road and Peachland Road on Tuesday, June 9.

“A search of the direct area met with negative results,” Cpl. Joe Duncan says. “Police are continuing their efforts to locate Stoyanowski, but are reaching out to the public for assistance.”

Duncan says search and rescue volunteers are still looking for Stoyanowski using both ground and air resources.

"They're searching in the Headwaters Lake and Peach Lakes area still," he says. "She's been out there a few days… we're not going to say it's suspicious. We just don't know where she's at right now."

Stoyanowski is a Caucasian woman, 5’8” tall, 120 lbs with short pink hair. She was wearing a shirt, shorts and flip flops.

Anyone with information on the missing woman’s whereabouts is asked to call the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880 or their local police. Remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
