Scorching temperatures ahead for Thompson-Okanagan
THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – With the official start of summer on Sunday, the weather forecast for the Southern Interior appears ready to cooperate.
Penticton and Kelowna can expect a week of sunny, hot weather leading into a possibly record-breaking weekend, according to the meteorologists at Environment Canada.
There is a slight chance of showers Monday night, June 22, but temperatures throughout the week are expected to climb into low to mid-30 Celsius range with the mercury rising to 38 C on Saturday and Sunday.
There is a 30 per cent chance of showers in Vernon Tuesday, but like the rest of the valley, people can look forward to hot and sunny weather the rest of the week and into the weekend. Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will rise into the 38 C, Environment Canada says.
Kamloops could see the highest temperatures in the Thompson-Okanagan this weekend, with highs Sunday of around 39 C. The rest of the week should also be very hot with Thursday and Friday reaching 36 C.
