College coach, son accused of attacking referee after game

WAUKESHA, Wis. – A men’s college basketball coach and his adult son have been charged with attacking a referee following a game against a rival school in Wisconsin.

University of Wisconsin-Rock County coach Jamal Mosley and his 20-year-old son, J’shon Mosley, are charged with battery and disorderly conduct. The younger Mosley is a team manager.

They’re accused of tracking down the referee after the team’s loss on Jan. 3, and beating him as he fell to the ground. Investigators say witnesses stopped the attack and called police.

The Journal Sentinel reports the coach told police the referee had disrespected him during the game by calling him a boy and giving him two technical fouls. He says the referee threw the first punch.

The Mosleys live in Madison. They’re due in court Feb. 19.
