Cisco Road wildfire evacuation alert rescinded

LYTTON – The Regional District Emergency Operations Centre has rescinded the evacuation alert for roughly 60 properties near the Cisco Road wildfire near Lytton.

The alert was issued at 9 p.m. June 11 for the west side of the Fraser River from the intersection of Lytton Ferry Rd. and South Spencer Rd., south to the northern boundaries of Lytton IR 25 and Lytton IR 31.

The Wildfire Management Branch says the imminent risk of danger to life and properties south of Lytton has diminished substantially for the roughly 2,000 ha fire that’s kept B.C. Wildfire crews busy more than a week.

As of Sunday, June 21, crews had the fire approximately 50 per cent contained.

As many as nine helicopters and four pieces of heavy equipment were working with ground crews since the fire started June 11.

The cause of the blaze has not been released.
