MERRITT – The Thompson-Nicola Regional District is changing the hours of operation at its Lower Nicola Eco-Depot effective July 6. The facility will be open 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., year-round to serve the Merritt and area residents better.
Eco-depots are an improved way for residents and businesses to manage their solid waste. A one-stop drop for all waste and recyclable materials, the facility allows for separation of recyclables and reusable materials before disposal of residual garbage. Because eco-depots have more space, there are more opportunities for recycling.
TNRD residents are reminded to sort their waste before arriving at waste disposal facilities for lower tipping fees, and to secure their loads for road safety. Payment methods at waste-disposal facilities include debit, credit card and Eco-Card.
