Police warn Vernon residents not to give money to man going door to door

VERNON – Police are issuing a public warning about a man going door to door asking for money.

Over the past three days, an unknown man has reportedly been going door to door in the area of 48 Avenue to 30 Avenue, RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in a media release issued today, June 30.

“He has primarily been targeting elderly homeowners, and asking for $30 for various reasons,” Noseworthy said.

Police are cautioning people to be money smart, and to call the police if they see any suspicious activity, or are concerned for their safety.

The man has been described as thin, in his late 20s to early 30s, wearing shorts and a red baseball cap.

  2. His name is Shaun Cartwright. He is from Sprucegrove/Edmonton. Was doing the same thing here for years, many warrants for his arrest.

  3. okay, what about the older lady that has been stealing items out of peoples homes, id, wallets and money for years here?she has been reported so many times, but she still continues. Her picture has been posted on the Vernon and Community Forum.

  4. Oh boy the way, he is driving a black small car. I can’t be sure of the make but it could be a hatchback. and dusty.

  5. He came to our house last week asking for money. We live in Lumby on a very quiet street, thought it was odd but he said he had a relative down the street. Needless to say, I never gave him money but told him to try his in-laws again.
