Man found dead in Kal Lake identified; second man still missing

VERNON – Police have launched a full scale search for an individual last seen with a man found dead in Kalamalka Lake over the weekend.

In a media release issued in this afternoon, June 30, RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy confirmed what 23-year-old Curtis Wilson’s family announced earlier in the day; that he was last seen with the person found dead by a paddle boarder in the lake, and that he is missing.

“RCMP are searching the Kalamalka Lake area for Wilson using ground, water and air resources,” Noseworthy said.

Police also seized a black Chrysler 200 car with an Alberta license plate belonging to Wilson in the area where the other man’s body was found as part of their investigation.

Investigators were initially treating the death of the man found dead as suspicious, but an autopsy has since revealed no foul play was involved. He has now been identified as Shane Letkeman, 32, from Lethbridge, Alta and the case has been turned over to the B.C. Coroners Service.
 
Wilson, 23, from Lethbridge, is described as Caucasian, 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, and having dark brown hair, a clean shaven face, and two distinctive star tattoos on either side of his chest, as well as several other tattoos on his arms and chest. He was last seen wearing hightop red sneakers, silver coloured shorts, a black t-shirt, and a red baseball cap.
