Newly reopened Pinantan store hit by thief

PINANTAN LAKE – The general store in Pinantan Lake was hit by a thief early Sunday morning, leaving the community without an ATM.

Const. Jason Epp of Kamloops RCMP says a lone suspect broke into the Pinantan General Store in the early morning hours of July 5. The suspect entered through the front door and used a tow rope attached to a pickup truck to remove the ATM from the store, which damaged the front and inside of the store.

Security cameras captured images of the suspect, who appears to be male and was wearing a balaclava, gloves, a black hoodie with a logo and writing on the front and sleeves, jeans and brown slip-on canvas shoes.

The vehicle is a Ford F-350 King Ranch crew cab with a white solid-side canopy and no back window.

Anyone with information about the break and enter or the whereabouts of the suspect vehicle are asked to call Tk’Emlups Rural RCMP at 250-314-1800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The store burned down in April 2014 and just reopened this past May.
