How to celebrate Canada Day

KELOWNA – Canada Day in Kelowna has plenty of free, family fun with everything from an apple bin painting to live music, and multicultural food to fireworks.

The annual festivities held in Waterfront, Jim Stuart and Kerry Parks along with Prospera Place attract some 60,000 celebrants of all ages.

The event is put together by Festivals Kelowna in partnership with Folkfest and the Kelowna Canada Day Concerts Society.

It's could be sunny and hot on Canada. Environment Canada's forecast for July 1 calls for sunshine and a high of 30 C.

Here’s how the day breaks down:

10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. – The 17 annual Celebrate Canada Day events in Waterfront Jim Stuart and Kerry Parks include live music and entertainment.

10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. – The 41 Annual Kelowna Folkfest Celebrations presenting Canada's cultural mosaic through culinary experiences and live performances at Prospera Place

1 p.m. – The official Celebrate Canada Day opening ceremonies including the Happy Birthday Canada cake at Prospera Place.

7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. – The 20 annual Kelowna Pops Orchestra Canada Day Spectacular. The concert in Prospera Place will end in time for audience to enjoy the fireworks.

10:30 p.m. – The fireworks display from Tugboat Bay.

Taste of Canada – a food fair featuring over 20 different vendors
 
Made in Canada Marketplace – an artisan showcase of handmade, Canadian arts and crafts
 
Canada Day Bazaar – a marketplace of unique items by local small businesses
 
Community Groups Display – information displays by local community associations

Kids Zone – a variety of drop-in activities for children of all ages including face painting, hula hooping, hockey shoot, balloon drop, parachute play, arts & crafts, storytelling.
