Vernon receives bulk of May rain in past two days

Vernon received about a millimeter of rain per hour yesterday. Preliminary data from Environment Canada says 24.5 mm of rain fell Wednesday and 15.8 on Tuesday.

That's a lot considering the third and fourth highest days for precipitation were 1.2 mm and 0.3. Every other day in May has yielded zero.

Total precipitation for the month is sitting at 41.8 mm—5 mm off from hitting its average. With over a week left, and rain in the forecast, it looks like Vernon will fill the measuring cup.

Environment Canada is forecasting a possible thunderstorm Thursday afternoon and evening. Showers are predicted Friday and Saturday.

Up-to-date weather reports will be available from the Environment Canada weather centre.
